Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) welcomes today’s announcement by Air Canada to commit to a daily Brisbane – Vancouver service when it launches inaugural services in June 2016, after previously pledging three flights a week.http://www.thavornbeachvillage.com/

Brisbane Airport Corporation has been working with Air Canada for a number of years to secure these services.

Air Canada will now provide more than double the number of seats already committed on the new route which will be operated by its flagship B787-8 next generation aircraft.

Julieanne Alroe, Brisbane Airport Corporation CEO and Managing Director, said the new daily service is testament to the strong economic ties between Queensland and Canada.

“Air Canada’s decision to make Brisbane a daily service from day one is a clear indication of the strength of Queensland’s attractions and a sign of Air Canada’s confidence in the market.

“Corporate and business ties between Queensland and Canada have never been stronger and a new branch of the Canada-Australia Chamber of Commerce being recently established in Brisbane is testament to this strength.

“The new daily service is a windfall for Queenslanders who now have unparalled connectivity to Air Canada’s domestic network of 64 Canadian cities as well as 52 destinations in the United States”, Ms Alroe said.

“Clearly, Canada-Australia business ties are of increasing significance with our two economies sharing many major industries, like mining, agriculture and tourism, but complementing each other by operating opposing growing and tourist seasons,” Ms Alroe said.

A Canada-Australia business breakfast will be held at Brisbane’s Convention and Exhibition Centre on 9 February and will be presented by the Canada-Australia Chamber of Commerce.

Air Canada is one of the leading carriers in North America with the new service to Vancouver connecting onwards to New York’s Newark airport, providing passengers travelling to the ‘Big Apple’ a same plane service on Air Canada’s newest business and economy class products.

Canadian travellers to Queensland were up 12 per cent in 2014 with the daily service expected to increase inbound visitation through strong corporate links in  the resource sector as well as tourism.

The direct service provides North American’s access to Queensland’s famous beaches and attractions, along with convenient connectivity to more than 42 destinations in Australia.

BAC acknowledges the support of the Queensland Government for this service.
