More flights recently added between Australia and Canada is part of an Air Canada strategy to broaden the carrier’s international network from Vancouver and the east coast of the United States.Travel through Canada to the US is an easy alternative option and also a great opportunity to discover some of Canada’s highlights along the way.
Air Canada has become very competitive in the Australian market introducing new flights to cater for the record number of Aussies flying to Canada and beyond.
The carrier recently launched its first year-round service between Melbourne and Vancouver, with non-stop Boeing 787 Dreamliner flights opening up an exciting new gateway to North America.
Air Canada is initially operating three non-stop services from Melbourne a week, with flight AC038 departing at 09.40am each Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. A fourth service will be added in November 2018. All the Melbourne flights will connect with domestic flights from Adelaide, Hobart and Perth with Air Canada’s codeshare partner Virgin Australia.
Australians traveling to Canada and the USA, can now transit Canada to their favorite US destination all on Air Canada. The process is quite simple as Air Canada now departs from three gateways out of Australia: Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne all on the new 787 Dreamliner. The Dreamliner’s offer passengers a choice of three cabins; International Business Class (featuring next generation lie-flat pods), Premium Economy and Economy.
On arrival in Vancouver follow the US flag if you are connecting to the USA, (Canadian flag for Canada and World globe for international connections – Mexico, Europe, Caribbean etc.) Passengers following the US flag will undertake a mandatory US Government screening process. Following this process travelers swipe boarding passes and proceed to US Customs. Luggage will be X rayed and it is not necessary to collect it. Once passengers and bags have been cleared you then proceed through US customs and on to the gate. During a stop-over take advantage of Vancouver airports many choices of inspiring restaurants and shopping outlets.
From Vancouver passengers can explore British Columbia’s world-renowned attractions or continue on to more than 120 destinations across Canada and the Unites States. Australian flights are specifically timed to optimise connectivity to the airline’s extensive US network, which includes non-stop flight to popular cities such as New York, Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, Anchorage, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Newark, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose and Seattle. In the US winter months Orlando, Florida and Newark are the most convenient gateways to the north east from Australia.
