OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAir Canada and NYC & Company were hosts to 11 lucky agents who spent five days in New York City and one day in Vancouver.  The agents were able to experience Air Canada’s new international business class on the airline’s flights from Brisbane and Sydney.

The group flew directly to New York where they kicked off their trip with a Fit Tour around Central Park on their way to The Metropolitan Museum of Art.  They stayed at The Edison Hotel and Hotel Metro conveniently located in Midtown, close to Times Square.

Evenings were spent at the Empire State Building and taking in new Broadway show Paramour from Cirque du Soleil.  The group also visited 9/11 Museum and Memorial and enjoyed the views from One World Observatory continuing their exploration of Lower Manhattan on a tour of Wall Street.  They rode the free ferry to Staten Island to hear more about the upcoming New York Wheel and Empire Outlets and experienced paddock to plate farmhouse dining in Snug Harbor at the Winter Garden.

“We were lucky see the beautiful fall foliage and the City in full Holiday mode in the lead up to Thanksgiving and the Holidays.  Christmas decorations adorned the City and store windows – there’s nothing like Christmas in New York,” said Trade Manager, Kristen Bashir from NYC & Company.

The recently opened Maple Leaf lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport was a fitting finish to New York City as the group left for Vancouver on Canada’s beautiful west coast.

Air Canada General Manager Australia and New Zealand, Paul McLean said Australian travellers were increasingly embracing the two-nation vacation concept.

“Air Canada’s daily non-stop flights from Sydney and Brisbane to Vancouver provide a fast and efficient route to New York City and the chance for Australians to combine two of North America’s most exciting and attractive cities,” said McLean.

The group was hosted by Neil Ford from Air Canada and Kristen Bashir from NYC & Company and included agents Phil Snow Main Beach Travel (QLD), Heidi Cooper Sun City Travel (QLD), Tamara Murray HRG (QLD), Jeanette Meunier-McMahon HRG (WA), Geeta Kalra BCD Travel (NSW), Mario Lazar CTM Travel (NSW), Michelle Howard CTM Travel (NSW), Bianca Ferrari, Traveledge (NSW), Raj Condamoor, World Business Travel (NSW), Melinda Renee Pigott, TravelManagers (NSW) and Lisa King TravelManagers (VIC).

All agents had completed the NYC & Company Travel Training Academy.  To become a NYC expert go to
