Air China to Start Sydney-Chengdu Service

Air China will start ChengduSydneyservice on November 11, 2016 . It will be Air China’s first nonstop route linking a city in west China to Australia , providing more flexible travel options for travelers in southwest China to Australia , and promoting the development of economy and tourism of, as well as trade and industrial cooperation between,Sichuan and China’s western regions and Oceania.

Chengdu is China’s famed “Land of Plenty”, while Sydney, Australia’s largest city and center of finance, transportation and tourism. Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage, spicy foods and Chuanju (a traditional local stage show) will be linked to white sails, mellow wines and Sydney Opera House across the vast Pacific Ocean, and the laid back vibe of Chengdu to the brilliant sunlight of the Oceania. There’s a lot to do and see.

With the forthcoming start of the service, Air China has introduced some specials valid until December 31. A 12% discount on Business Class (round-trip) and an 8% discount on Economy Class (round-trip) are offered. Before flight departure, PhoenixMiles members who register for participation on PhoenixMiles website can get an additional bonus of non-status kilometres which is 30% of the standard number of kilometres they are entitled to in Economy Class or 50% of the standard number of kilometres they are entitled to in Business Class. In addition, during the promotional period, PhoenixMiles members are also entitled to a 15% discount on the number of kilometres they usually need to spend in exchange for awards. In 2016, while expanding its global network with its hub in Beijing , Air China has also stepped up its efforts to build its regional hub in Chengdu , improving the regional networks of Chengdu and Chongqing. Relying on the extensive route network of the Star Alliance, Air China can easily fly passengers to 1330 airports in 193 countries.


The Chengdu Sydney service, CA429/30, is operated with Airbus 330-200 three times a week. The outbound flight, offered on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, departs from Chengdu at 22:55 and arrives inSydney at 12:35 the following day. The return flight departs from Sydney at 14:35 and arrives in Chengduat 22:35.
