AirfanceAir France and Aircalin are extending their partnership to a new agreement, better adapted to the needs of both airlines.

 Air France and Aircalin sign a new commercial agreement

On departure from Noumea, the flight schedule to Tokyo-Narita has been modified to enable flights operated by Aircalin to arrive in the morning in Tokyo, providing passengers with connections on the Air France A380, as well as with KLM flights to Amsterdam.

In this way, there are new connecting opportunities for Caledonian passengers travelling to Europe, as well as to Asia, with Tokyo-Narita taking on its major role as an international hub.

Mutual commitments serving Caledonians and New Caledonia

Within the framework of this new agreement, Air France and Aircalin are committed to:
– developing partnerships to Europe on departure from Nouméa with Air France;
– maintaining the guarantee of seats available for Aircalin’s Caledonian passengers travelling to Paris from Tokyo on Air France flights;
– actively supporting the promotion of tourism in New Caledonia on the French and European markets.

Air France will continue to be represented in Noumea. Passengers will still be able to choose to purchase their tickets at Aircalin or Air France ticket offices, or from their usual travel agent. The Flying Blue loyalty program remains the same.

This new framework agreement was signed on 16 October 2013 at Paris-Charles de Gaulle, by Frédéric Gagey, Chairman and CEO of Air France, Bernard Deladrière, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aircalin and Didier Tappero, Managing Director of Aircalin, in the presence of Cynthia Ligeard, President of the Southern Provinces and President of the Economic Interest Group (EIG) New Caledonia South Tourism.

“We are pleased that the historical links between Air France and New Caledonia are today reaffirmed and strengthened by this new framework agreement after eleven years of partnership with Aircalin” declared Frédéric Gagey, Chairman and CEO of Air France and Bernard Deladrière, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aircalin.

“By streamlining our flight schedule thanks to this agreement, we can offer multiple connecting opportunities at Tokyo airport between Noumea and Europe for Caledonian passengers” added Didier Tappero, Managing Director of Aircalin.

Air France and Aircalin, a long-term partnership

On 30 June 2000, Air France and Aircalin signed a framework partnership agreement in two phases.

An initial transient phase, based on mutual cooperation, enabling both airlines to develop a partnership arrangement. This enabled Aircalin to access Japan and to serve Osaka by Airbus A310.

A second phase, from April 2002 to October 2013, saw the strengthening of cooperation between the two airlines:

– as from 2002, with two Airbus A330 funded by New Caledonia, Aircalin operated all flights between New Caledonia and Japan;
– services from Japan were operated by Air France;
– a “block agreement” (pre-purchase of a volume of seats over the year), with code sharing, enabled Air France to continue to be present on flights between New Caledonia and metropolitan France.

With this strong eleven-year partnership, Aircalin and Air France are now the benchmark for routes to and from metropolitan France with 120,000 passengers carried every year, on the basis of eight to nine weekly frequencies.
