The history of the airport and that of Air France are closely linked. It was back in 1933 that the first flight operated under the Air France colours took off from Le Bourget airport.

An Air France virtual museum

As part of the Company’s 80th anniversary celebrations, the Air France Museum association is today opening the world’s first virtual museum devoted to an international airline carrier.

The Air France virtual museum, museeairfrance.org, comprises eight exhibition rooms for visitors – a poster room, a model aircraft room, one devoted to uniforms, four history rooms covering the periods 1919-1933, 1933-1945, 1945-1960 and 1960-1980, and a temporary exhibition “Stars on the jetway”. The items displayed come from the Air France Museum’s permanent collections.

The Air France virtual museum gives the general public permanent access to the Company’s historic heritage. Visitors can discover collections that have previously only been unveiled for temporary exhibitions.

Over the coming months, the virtual museum will be enhanced with new exhibitions rooms, with notably two history rooms covering the periods 1980-2000 and 2000-2014.
