Air New Zealand has today launched a dedicated Tiaki – Care for New Zealand channel on its inflight entertainment system aimed at educating visitors about travelling responsibly and safely in New Zealand.

The new channel is now available on all of the airline’s international services and includes educational content from partners Tourism New Zealand and the Department of Conservation, offering informative videos such as ‘Driving Safely in New Zealand’.

The inflight content follows on from the launch of the Tiaki Promise in November which saw the airline join forces with the Department of Conservation, Local Government New Zealand, New Zealand Māori Tourism, Tourism Holdings Ltd, Tourism Industry Aotearoa and Tourism New Zealand to inspire travellers to act as guardians of Aotearoa.

The Tiaki Promise encourages travellers to explore the country in a way that keeps everyone safe, protects the environment, respects culture and protects the country for future generations.

Air New Zealand’s Chief Marketing and Customer Officer Mike Tod says the airline is very proud to be launching a dedicated Tiaki channel on board.

“As an airline, we’re in a unique position to communicate with visitors at the outset of their journey. This new channel brings the Tiaki initiative to life through educational videos, which show why caring for New Zealand is important and demonstrate how to travel our country safely, courteously and sustainably,” says Mr Tod.

Air New Zealand’s inflight Tiaki channel is now available in English, Te Reo, German, Chinese and Spanish. Japanese language content will be added in June.
