Air New Zealand’s new Brisbane services take off

Capping off a bumper quarter of international growth, Air New Zealand’s inaugural Brisbane-Queenstown, and Brisbane-Wellington flights depart Brisbane Airport today.

Air New Zealand will operate its A320 aircraft up to four times a week between Brisbane and Queenstown, and up to five times a week between Brisbane and Wellington, increasing the airline’s overall annual capacity to the Queensland capital by around 40 percent.

Air New Zealand Chief Revenue Officer Cam Wallace says the launch of the new services rounds out a busy few months of international expansion.

“We’ve upped international capacity by close to 500,000 seats this year with the enhanced Brisbane schedule and launch of new direct Auckland-Taipei, and Auckland-Chicago flights contributing to this boost.

“Australia is New Zealand’s largest source of inbound tourism and it’s a market we’re determined to grow. We’ll ramp up our Australian operations further in 2019, with a 60 percent boost in our capacity to the Gold Coast from February.”

Flight NZ860 (Brisbane-Queenstown) is scheduled to depart Brisbane at 8.10am AEST. Flight NZ828 (Brisbane-Wellington) is scheduled to depart Brisbane at 5.35pm AEST.
