Air New Zealand’s Christmas song has attracted more than 8 million global views since its premiere last week, and Summer Wonderland will now be released as a commercial track to raise funds for the Starship Foundation, in support of the national children’s hospital.
The track which stars multi-platinum artist Ronan Keating and teenage Kiwi actor Julian Dennison will be available on major streaming services Spotify, iTunes, Google Play and Apple Music from this Friday, with all Air New Zealand proceeds being donated to the Starship Foundation.
The airline’s Southern Hemisphere rewrite of Walking in a Winter Wonderland has already been a smash hit with local and international audiences, gaining exposure in global media outlets including the Daily Mail and MTV and trending on Twitter and YouTube.
Air New Zealand’s General Manager Global Brand and Content Marketing Jodi Williams says it’s exciting to work with Universal Music to rally fans behind a great cause and add the unique track to their festive playlist.
“Partnering with Universal to release Summer Wonderland commercially will help spread the word globally about New Zealand as a destination. We’d love to see the song hit number one so we’re calling on fans to get involved, and do their bit for charity at the same time.
“Air New Zealand is a long-term supporter of the Starship Foundation so gifting our share of the proceeds from its sale is the perfect way to get into the spirit of the season and help make Christmas a bit brighter for those children spending their holidays in hospital.”
