Air Vanuatu, Vanuatu’s national carrier, is excited to announce two new appointments to its Melbourne team, including Amanda Board as Regional Sales Representative, Southern Region and Allan Hutchison as Airport Services Manager, commencing 23 April 2019.

Board and Hutchison join the Air Vanuatu team – known for the friendliest smiles in the South Pacific – with a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, ahead of the airline’s exciting new direct flight launch between Melbourne and Port Vila.

Commencing 18 June 2019, direct flights from Melbourne to Vanuatu’s harbourside capital Port Vila will be available from $633 return. Air Vanuatu will run three non-stop weekly, 2 class services departing at convenient times on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, on the airline’s Boeing 737-800. Onward connections are also available to 28 destinations throughout the archipelago.

Paul Forbes, Air Vanuatu’s Manager Commercial for Australia, said the new appointments mark an exciting time for the airline and will help drive growth out of the burgeoning Melbourne market, which Air Vanuatu has identified as a key focus for its strategy.

“This year is set to be one of the most monumental in Air Vanuatu’s history, with the launch of new thrice-weekly direct flights from Melbourne to Port Vila and we’re confident the expanding Melbourne team will drive positive results for the airline into the future,” said Mr Forbes.

The new Melbourne-Port Vila route will be the only direct service between the two cities, offering almost direct connections to the Islands of Espiritu Santo and Tanna.

Air Vanuatu currently operates seven non-stop flights per week from Sydney to Port Vila, Vanuatu and four non-stop flights per week from Brisbane to Port Vila, Vanuatu. The airline also offers a direct non-stop connection between Brisbane to Espiritu Santo – Vanuatu’s largest island. This year, the Airbus A220 aircraft was selected by Air Vanuatu for its fleet expansion and will be the official launch airline in the Pacific region with 4 aircraft on order and options for 4 more.
