Lanzhou is AirAsia’s latest destination in China with the announcement of direct services between Kuala Lumpur and one of Northwest China’s largest cities.

The four times weekly service commencing 1 May 2019 will be the only direct service to the capital of Gansu Province from Kuala Lumpur.

AirAsia X Malaysia CEO Benyamin Ismail said “AirAsia is committed to growing its footprint in China. Last year, we announced a new route to Tianjin, and today’s addition of Lanzhou to our network is proof of our commitment to expanding our presence in this key market, as we continue to serve the needs of Malaysian and Chinese travellers alike.”

AirAsia China and Indochina CEO Tassapon Bijleveld said, “AirAsia is the largest foreign carrier by capacity in China, where we operate more than 600 weekly flights to 23 cities from Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. This new route will provide an additional 156,000 seats per year to China, alongside a significant contribution to tourism, trade and economic growth between the two countries.”

Key tourism highlights of Lanzhou and Gansu Province include Wuquan Mountain, the ancient Lutusi government complex, Bingling Temple, the Tibetan Buddhist Labrang Monastery, Dunhuang, Zhangye National Geopark and the Yellow River. Gansu is also home to a large, vibrant Muslim community, with more than 4,000 mosques spread across the province today.

To celebrate the new route, AirAsia is offering all-inclusive member fares from as low as RM149* for standard seats and RM789* for our award-winning Premium Flatbed. Fares are available for booking at airasia.com or via the AirAsia mobile app from now until 24 March 2019, for travel from 1 May 2019 to 26 October 2019.
