AirAsia X Enhances Connectivity to China with Chongqing – Gateway to the Yangtze River

AirAsia X is expanding further into China with the introduction of its latest direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Chongqing as its 6th destination to China after Hangzhou, Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai & Xi’An. 

The leading long-haul low fare affiliate of the AirAsia Group will soon commence 4 weekly flights into Jiangbei International Airport, Chongqing beginning February 13, 2015 onwards and will be the only airline servicing direct flights between the two cities.

In conjunction with the launch of the new destination, AirAsia X will be offering promotional all-in-fare from as low asMYR199* (CNY488*) on Economy and MYR799* (CNY1,888*) on its Business Class to Chongqing one way. Bookings are available online between 5 August 2014 and 10 August 2014 for travel between 13 February 2015 and 31 July 2015.

Dato’ Bernard Francis, Commercial Director of AirAsia X said, “The addition of the Kuala Lumpur – Chongqing route enables us to further strengthen our route network into China. AirAsia X is very positive about our growth in China, and the addition of this new route will further fortify the point. We carried a total of 2.7 million passengers to date into/from China from Kuala Lumpur with an average passenger load of 82%. With Chongqing added on our network, we expect to see our total revenue increase to over 17% with more than 1 million guests flying into/from our China routes from Kuala Lumpur this year.”

Chongqing attracts visitors from home and abroad for its cultural heritage and other tourist attractions. The city is the starting point for the Yangtze River Cruise, which explores the stunning scenery of the Three Gorges. Other attractions include the Dazu Rock Carvings, valuable works of art carved during the Ninth Century, Gold Buddhist Mountain, a rich repository of diverse animals and plants; and Fishing Town, one of three ancient battlefields in China. Ancient Ci Qi Kou village lures tourists to linger in its streets to buy handicraft souvenirs.

AirAsia X was the first long-haul, low fare carrier to introduce Business Class Flatbed seats, which have standard business class specifications of 20” width, 60” pitch and stretch out to 77” in full recline position.

The business class seat feature universal power sockets, adjustable headrests and built-in personal utilities such as tray table, drink holder, reading light and privacy screen. Business class seat guests also enjoy premium complimentary products and services including Pick A Seat, Priority Check-in, Priority Boarding, Priority Baggage, 40kg Baggage Allowance, Complimentary Meal & drinks and Pillow & Duvet.
