Vietnamese airline fined over bikini dance show in aisle

An airline in Vietnam has been fined for allowing beauty queens in red bikinis to stage an in-flight Hawaiian-style dance show in the aisle for passengers to film on their smartphones.

VietJet Air, a low-cost carrier, staged the event to celebrate its inaugural flight earlier this month between Ho Chi Minh City and the resort of Nha Trang.

The clip has been posted on YouTube and can be viewed by clicking here.

The performance lasts about three minutes, featuring five contestants in a local beauty pageant.

A VietJet Air official told Britain’s Daily Mail that as it was the airline’s first flight to the beach town, “we came up with the idea of getting a number of girls in bikinis to dance and make passengers happy to improve our customer service”.

The strait-laced Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) was not amused. It fined VietJet Air 20 million Vietnamese dong – about AUD907.

CAAV chief inspector Nguyen Trong Thang said the airline should have registered with the agency before holding the show. Holding an unapproved show on a flight violated local aviation regulations.

Maybe CAAV inspector was unhappy because he was not invited on to the inaugural.
I watched the clip and found it to be very tasteful and nice.
