Ambassador Swan was received by Hamda Al Matroshy, Acting General Manager of the Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) who gave her a tour of the museum where the life, culture and history of the emirate were depicted in large scale exhibitions.

“I want to get acquainted with all the Emirates. This is my first visit to Ajman and I hope to come back very soon. There are so many splendid hotels and tourist resorts and I hope many Finnish tourists will find Ajman in the coming years,” said Ambassador Swan.

About 20,000 tourists from Finland visits the UAE every year, according to the Embassy, but the number is expected to grow. She added: “Finnish people wants to spend a week or two in the sun during wintertime. Ajman is a perfect place for that with its great sandy beaches and peaceful environment. It is also fairly close to Finland, with just more than six hours flight.”

Al Matroshy commented: “We are honoured to welcome Ambassador Swan to Ajman. I hope the information that she gathered from her visit will encourage a lot of Finnish people to visit the emirate because we offer a variety of activities and opportunities for both leisure and business travelers.”

The ambassador also visited Al Zorah where she was received by Imad Dana, CEO of Al Zorah Development Company.  She was given a tour of the golf club and was also briefed of Al Zorah’s master plan which will turn the location into a sophisticated destination.

Commenting on the entire visit, Ambassador Swan said: “Ajman is a rapidly developing emirate. I have been happy to see how wisely this emirate is managed and what a great view the leaders of the emirate have.”

“I would like to promote trade and investments between Ajman and Finland because we have much more possibilities in our economic cooperation. Ajman has developed very fast and I am sure the development will continue in the future. It has been great to see how much Ajman people appreciate their history and heritage during the visit to the Ajman Museum and also admire the work for the future here in Ajman, such as the wonderful Al Zorah Golf Club,” she said.
