In its commitment to pioneering new ways to explore the globe, luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) recently conducted an in-depth market research study with analysis company Fuse Insights.https://www.travelcounsellors.com.au/au/leisure The findings reported on travellers’ past experiences, attitudes to travel, motivations for travel, as well as future travel intentions.

Surveying A&K clientele, the findings revealed that while 47% of travellers had travelled as part of a group in the past, 77% said they were likely to travel with a group in future. This attitudinal shift towards group travel is reflected in A&K’s future offering, with more small group journeys in the works.

Throughout its existence, A&K has been renowned as a creator of bespoke private journeys. What’s perhaps less well known is A&K’s extensive offering in the luxury small-group travel category. A&K’s complete small group journey portfolio now includes nearly 900 small group departures every year on more than 100 different journeys, that between them cover every continent and more than 65 countries.

With intimate group sizes limited to just 18 guests, and most guaranteed to depart with just two guests, A&K’s small group journeys allow guests to stay in the best hotels and experience unmatched insider access to revered sites, often before the crowds arrive. They’re designed not only to accommodate the things travellers like most about travelling in a group but also to avoid some of the things that might put some travellers off small group travel. A&K assists intimate group sizes with language barriers, economies of scales and logistics. A&K accommodates well- paced, flexible itineraries that give travellers opportunities for self-discovery in a destination and even a little indulgent downtime to savour a journey or a meal.

Regional Managing Director Australia/Asia Pacific, Sujata Raman says, “We like to give our guests an opportunity to connect with like-minded travellers in an intimate group setting. This is why our small group journeys have proven so popular. In fact, our group travel business grew by nearly 60% last year alone, and now makes up about a third of our outbound business, with our private journey business also on a growth trajectory.”

Sujata Raman says “Guests who meet on one journey often begin making plans together for their next. Travel is a rewarding experience, so are the friends you make along the way!’
