A2A is the second largest Italian producer of renewable energy and is a national leader in services focused on the generation of environmentally-friendly energy. This partnership allows the hotels to secure the use of energy from renewable sources from 1 January 2016 until 31 December of the same year.

Meliá Hotels International is firmly committed to preserving the environment and fighting climate change, and it has shown on many occasions. In 2015, the Company signed an agreement with Endesa to ensure all of its hotels and corporate headquarters in Spain would use 100% renewable electricity through to the end of 2016.

This new milestone is part of the Meliá Hotels International strategy to move towards more responsible resources management and the integration of sustainability criteria as a basic foundation of its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.
