Aloft Perth Further Elevates Its Dynamic Hotel Experience with The Introduction Of SPG Keyless

Aloft Perth has announced its new feature of SPG Keyless, the industry’s first truly mobile and keyless entry system that allows Starwood preferred Guest members to use their smartphone as a key to their rooms through the SPG® app.

This addition to the hotel comes after a flurry of awards since its opening in May this year, including AHA WA 2017 Accommodation Industry Awards – Best Superior Accommodation Hotel and Best New Accommodation Hotel; as well as AHA WA 2017 Hospitality Awards for Excellence – Best Conference and Functions.

Stephen Morahan, General Manager of Aloft Perth, says the hotel team is excited by its achievements in its first year but will not be resting on its laurels. “The introduction of SPG Keyless is another example of our focus on continuing to elevate our hotel experience year-on-year for our tech savvy guests,” Morahan said.

Enhancing and personalising its guests’ mobile experience is a focus for Marriott as more than half of smartphone owners use their devices for travel-related activities. “SPG Keyless is incredibly popular with the U.S. and we have seen usage grow rapidly since its introduction. This is why we wanted to extend this convenient app feature to SPG members in Australia by introducing SPG Keyless at Aloft Perth,” said Irene Lin, Vice President, Digital, Loyalty and Portfolio Marketing, Asia Pacific at Marriott International

The new keyless feature is available exclusively for members who have downloaded the SPG mobile app and booked their stays directly with SPG on its website or in the app. To use SPG Keyless, members will need to register their phone through the SPG app. If an upcoming stay is eligible for SPG Keyless, members will get a push notification to opt to go keyless. Once the room is ready, the member will get another notification to view their room number and unlock the door.

There is more to come with the SPG app, including features allowing members to further personalise their stay and greater choice and convenience in interacting with hotel associates. Next up will be the introduction of Mobile Requests in 2018, which is already available at 4,000 hotels in the Marriott Rewards and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards portfolios. Members will be able to choose from a list of the most requested services and amenities, and text directly with hotel associates before, during and after their stays to make special requests.
