Alzaabi named Middle East travel personality of the year

Millennium & Copthorne Hotels Middle East and Africa (MEA) President and CEO Ali Hamad Lakhraim Alzaabi has been named the Middle East’s Leading Travel Personality during a special presentation at the 2014 World Travel Awards.

Alzaabi was honoured for his contribution to the industry and strategic role in propagating tourism growth in the region through his role at the helm of one of the region’s fastest-growing hotel groups.

Millennium & Copthorne currently operates 17 hotels across the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar, Oman and Iraq and has an aggressive agenda for expansion with the goal of 50 properties located throughout the Middle East and Africa by 2017, including 20 in Saudi Arabia.

Accepting the award at a glittering ceremony held during ATM week, Alzaabi said: “As a leading global hospitality brand we see huge potential for development across the region and, as a UAE national and lifelong hotelier, to be an active player in shaping the future travel and tourism landscape continues to be extremely challenging, inspiring and rewarding.”Ali Alzaabi receives World Travel Award

Under his leadership, the group won a total of seven awards including Dubai’s Leading Luxury City Hotel, Dubai’s Leading City Business Hotels, Abu Dhabi’s Leading Luxury City Hotel, Abu Dhabi’s Leading Serviced Apartments, Jordan’s Leading Business Hotel, the Middle East’s Leading Business Hotel Brand and the Middle East’s Leading airport hotel.

Alzaabi is also a strong supporter of talented youth and is the patron of the ‘Ali Alzaabi Young Business Leaders Scholarship Fund’ at the American University of Sharjah.

“It is essential that we nurture and develop the next generation of leaders in the region as government infrastructure development plans become economic reality and accelerated demand further opens up the region to the next wave of global consumer,” he remarked.

Under Alzaabi’s leadership, Millennium & Copthorne’s will more than double its brand presence in the region by 2017 as the group prepares to launch three new-to-region hospitality brands with the debut of Studio M, M Hotel and Millennium Executive Apartments across the Middle East.

This is further supported by significant investment into technological innovation both at property as well as corporate level.

The urban city centre-located Studio M and M Hotels brands will offer tech savvy guests access to the latest in-room and business technology and this is echoed in back-end systems with Millennium & Copthorne recently implemented new  central reservation system, WindsurferCRS.

Enhancements have also been made to the mobile website, adding precise travel information with a hotel map as well as a direct ‘book now’ option available to guests anywhere around the world.
