In a mind searching and highly stimulating presentation at the recent Maximum Occupancy conference in Sydney, Benjamin Weinmann, Manager Hotel Distribution, Pacific for Amadeus gazed into the future of travel, making delegates think very hard about their marketing and distribution activity, in fact how they did business, with a thought provoking presentation focussed on Amadeus’ latest study, Traveller Tribes 2030.
Calling for the industry to rethink its traditional marketing segmentation, Benjamin said that a different approach needed to be adopted that would appeal to the different traveller types, each searching for unique and personal travel experiences through a variety of booking channels and in particular the fit between marketing and distribution.
If you thought the world of travel marketing and distribution had already changed exponentially, well maybe it has, but I reckon the changes to date are nothing compared to the future changes the industry faces, with if you “ain’t in it, you can’t win it”, will cause or even demand many in the industry to think their strategies again!
