American Airlines today announced the launch of a new service between Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

The move reinforces American’s commitment to expanding and strengthening its global presence, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.

The new daily service will start on June 13, 2014. Through American’s extensive network from Dallas/Fort Worth, customers traveling from Hong Kong now have one- stop access to nearly 200 additional destinations across the U.S. and Latin America.

“Hong Kong is an important global economic and financial center, and there is large demand for direct travel to and from the region. I am delighted that we can now offer a non-stop flight to the U.S. with excellent onward connections,” said Erwan Perhirin, American’s Managing Director of Asia Pacific. “This announcement is further confirmation of American’s long-term plan to enhance its global network, and this new route strongly reinforces American’s focus on the Asia-Pacific region.”

The daily flight will be operated by American’s new Flagship Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The 777-300ER introduces new enhancements to the inflight experience, including lie-flat seats with direct aisle access in First Class and Business Class, a walk- up bar for premium-cabin customers that offers snacks and drinks, a sophisticated entertainment system offering hundreds of hours of audio and video programming options at every seat throughout the aircraft and onboard Wi-Fi. American was the first U.S. airline to order and take delivery of the state-of-the-art Boeing 777-300ER and intends to accept a total of 20 of the aircraft over the next few years.

The route between Hong Kong and Dallas/Fort Worth is American’s first service between Hong Kong and the U.S. and compliments American’s current flights from Shanghai to Chicago and Los Angeles and the Beijing to Chicago service.

In addition to being a major connecting point for travelers, DFW International Airport is the gateway to the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex area – one of the tenth largest population centers in the U.S. and an area with a thriving industrial, financial and commercial base. Many electronics, communications, energy and banking corporations are headquartered in the region. With seven runways and covering an area the size of Manhattan, DFW International Airport is the world’s fourth busiest airport by aircraft movements and the eighth largest in terms of passengers.
