Last week, 180 guests joined American Airlines for a one-off, tailored all American feast to celebrate American Independence Day. Held at The Conservatory in The Morrison Bar and Oyster Room on July 4, the event saw guests tuck in to a specially crafted menu and cocktails including dishes such as Crab and Lettuce with Salmon Caviar and Smashing Pumpkin Pie Martinis by celebrity chef, Sean Connolly.

For guests keen to indulge, there was a 1kg Chilli Crab Eating contest competing with Sean Connolly himself as the contestant to beat. Our ten contestants did a stellar job at this but only one walked away with the $1000 dinner voucher to The Morrison. Other games ensued including a doughnut eating contest from the USA themed doughnut wall, and beer pong.

Sean Connolly hosted the event alongside Danny Clayton, who led the festivities throughout the evening in Sydney’s CBD. Ex-Harlem Globe Trotter Tracey Williams also made a special guest appearance, attending as an ambassador for the Charity Bounce.

Simon Dodd, American Airlines General Manager – Australia and New Zealand said: “We were delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate this holiday alongside our travel agency partners in Australia and greatly appreciate their partnership, working with them to deliver products that easily allow them to sell American’s network, the largest in the world.”

Sean Connolly said of the evening: “To celebrate my new association with American Airlines I created a specially tailored menu for the 4th  of July. It’s probably one of the best parties we’ve ever had at the Morrison. I’m super pumped to now be a part of the American Airlines family.”

In March 2018, American Airlines appointed Sean Connolly to introduce his much-awarded style of cuisine to Oceania. The chef, who has restaurants in both Sydney and New Zealand, introduced his knowledge of local cuisine to premium cabins on all American Airlines flights from Sydney to the English-born, Australian raised Sean is known for his various TV shows, cookbooks and restaurants that celebrate Australia’s love affair with multicultural dining and no-fuss, family oriented entertaining.

Travellers on the selected routes will experience Sean’s nod to local produce, where local proteins have been used wherever possible such as Queensland Prawns and Blue Eyed Cod, as well as also incorporating several of his own branded products into recipes.
