American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) has appointed Patricia Huska as Chief People Officer.

Huska, who officially started her role in December, reports to GBT CEO Doug Anderson and has joined his Executive Leadership Team.

Anderson said: “GBT is a people-first organisation, and Patricia cares about nothing more than the wellbeing and development of our people. She has been part of the GBT family for many years and is highly respected by coworkers across the globe. I could think of no one better to elevate our workplace culture and employee engagement.”

Huska will drive a people-focused strategy designed to attract and retain talent, while furthering GBT’s focus on being the employer of choice in the global travel industry. She will be responsible for all traditional HR requirements that support more than 16,000 highly-skilled business travel professionals across GBT’s global enterprise.

Huska said: “GBT’s success is based entirely on its people. Ensuring everyone has the best experience possible and every opportunity to grow and develop professionally is critical to our ongoing success.  I am determined that GBT will be known as the most exciting, diverse and rewarding place to work in the global business travel industry.”

Huska was previously Vice President of Global Human Resources for GBT, responsible for the development and execution of strategies aimed at attracting talent, while retaining and engaging the existing employee base. She also has significant merger and acquisition experience.

With 25 years at American Express and GBT, Huska has a broad HR background including employee relations, recruitment, change management, and organisational effectiveness. Throughout her career, she has led the creation of many corporate initiatives including home-based servicing for travel counsellors, workforce flexibility initiatives, and leadership development programs.
