American Express Introduces New Card To Assist And Reward Growing Small Businesses

July 18, 2017 Business News No Comments Email Email

American Express today launched the American Express Business ExplorerTM Credit Card giving small and medium-sized business greater flexibility in managing their cash flow, and giving them greater rewards on their spending.

The American Express Business Explorer Credit Card gives card members 100,000[i] Membership Rewards points at sign-up and 50,000[ii] Membership Rewards bonus points every 12 months. That’s enough points for a round-trip business class ticket from Sydney to Los Angeles. These points can also be redeemed for company travel, office equipment, staff incentive programs or client entertainment.

The launch comes as many small business owners prefer to keep their personal and work finances separated when growing their business.  Almost 70% of business owners preferred to use a business card to pay for company expenses, rather than personal cards.

Martin Seward, Vice President of Small and Medium Enterprises at American Express said “Small business owners make every sacrifice to succeed; we wanted to do what we could to make life easier for them, and reward them for their efforts. The Business Explorer credit card does that; greater rewards, more travel perks, and better interest rates to help businesses manage cash flow and expenses more effectively.”

Stu Gregor, Co-Founder of Four Pillars Gin, said credit can help businesses seize opportunities in their early years and earn rewards when they succeed.

“It is tough building a small business, but it can be incredibly rewarding. When we started Four Pillars, our aim was to make a truly authentic Australian gin. But experience, expertise and vision aren’t enough to succeed. In a competitive industry, it’s important to draw on the support – from the right financial support through to the right people, suppliers and trading partners,” Gregor said.

“Over the last 15 years, I’ve relied on American Express for the majority of our business expenses. As a growing business, we have plenty of outgoings. But with American Express, we can easily see what’s being spent where, and have that additional time to keep cash flow in the business.”

“The icing on the cake for me, though, is being able to invest the reward points we’ve earned through American Express back in to Four Pillars. I use our points mainly for business travel, and making the most of the free airport lounges, but last year it was particularly great to be able to take the kids on a trip of a lifetime to Costa Rica.”

Other Business Explorer credit card benefits include:

Competitive interest rate of 16.99%

  • Up to 55 interest-free days;
  • Two American Express Lounge passes per year;
  • Automatic data feeds to MYOB accounting software to help businesses better manage their finances and increase productivity; and,
  • Access to all three major digital wallets (Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay).
