This month’s “Discover America” travel trade shows in New Zealand will be the biggest US event on record for the country, with over 60 exhibitors including American Samoa showcasing US product to the trade.

Local New Zealand Visit USA chairman and Brand USA representative Wayne Mitcham said “it’s fantastic to see the overwhelming support from overseas and local suppliers”. The Discover America shows will be held in Christchurch on February 17th and in Auckland on February 18th and will combine booth sessions and trade presentations. American Samoa Visitors Bureau Executive Director, David Vaeafe said our participation is part of our ongoing marketing program to educate the international travel trade on our destination. “We are at present finalizing a partnership program with Brand USA (Washington DC) that will see them supplementing our overseas advertising efforts with our travel partners in the New Zealand and Australian market place.

In New Zealand we have partnerships with four travel companies – Air New Zealand Holidays/The AOT Group, Go Holidays, House of Travel and Our Pacific, all of whom started selling American Samoa a couple of years ago. The Discover America shows will give us the opportunity to speak directly to over 700 travel agents over the two days”, he said. Prior to this event the American Samoa Visitors Bureau will also participant in the Auckland Flight Centre Travel Expo on February 15th & 16th, the largest consumer travel show in New Zealand.
