An Uplifting Charity Event to Help Children in Need The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali Hosts Group Yoga Class to Raise Funds for Unicef

unicef-beach-family-yoga-3The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali chose to do something different this year for its UNICEF Check Out For Children charity event that was more in line with the brand’s wellness concept. On Sunday late afternoon, 27th November 2016, over 260 health enthusiasts gathered for an uplifting session of Beach Family Yoga.

This fun afternoon activity took place at the resort’s stretch of white sand beach overlooking the glistening waters of the Indian Ocean. It provided an opportunity for families to spend quality time together whilst giving back to those in need.

For a registration fee of just IDR 150,000 Net per person, every participant received an exclusive water bottle and enjoyed an hour-long session of yoga. Healthy SuperFoodsRX refreshments were also be available to ensure that everyone remained hydrated and energized throughout the event.

The class was conducted by the resort’s resident Wellness Specialist, Jitendra Pokhriyal, who hails from the birthplace of yoga in India. He was supported on stage by members of the Westin Yoga Club by demonstrating gentle stretching and synchronized breathing exercises to promote physical and spiritual well-being.

With the theme “Shining Bright for 20 Years & Beyond”, this inspiring event celebrated the resort’s ongoing commitment to the UNICEF Check Out For Children charity. Proceeds raised during the afternoon totaled more than IDR 142,850,000. This amount, together with proceeds from the auction of a Heavenly Bed, will be donated directly to a project that provides clean water and better hygiene for children in developing countries in the region. UNICEF estimates that 1,400 children die each day from diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation, the partnership has committed to provide all children, everywhere in Asia Pacific, with access to clean water and basic sanitation.

“The response to this charity event was overwhelming, especially as we decided to do something totally different from our usual music concert. Although yoga is a niche initiative, it is essential to Westin’s brand philosophy of preserving wellness through travel. I am delighted that so many people turned out to support us and I appreciate all of the hard work put in by our associates to ensure that it was a success,” says Mr. Bipan Kapur, Managing Director of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali.
