ANA Intercontinental Tokyo Welcomes Michel Chertouh As New Regional General Manager

ANA Intercontinental Tokyo is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Michel Chertouh as General Manager ANA Intercontinental Tokyo, and Regional General Manager, Greater Tokyo and Okinawa.

A French national, who speaks five languages, Michel Chertouh is a true InterContinental Brand Ambassador with a wealth experience within the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) in three regions – Europe, Americas and Asia. Michel commenced his career in Food & Beverage at InterContinental Paris, quickly rising through the company to establish a solid background in hotel operations in London, Rio de Janeiro, Barcelona and Miami. In 2001, he moved to Brazil to fulfil his first General Manager role in Sao Paolo. Further moves within the company saw him reposition and revitalise a resort and casino in the Dutch Caribbean and open several resorts in Spain. He then returned to Brazil as General Manager at InterContinental Rio de Janeiro.

He relocated to Asia with his first assignment being in Hanoi, Vietnam, followed by the past five years based at InterContinental Bali Resort as Regional General Manager responsible for 14 IHG Branded Resort properties in Indonesia, Malaysia & Thailand. During his time in Bali, he developed and executed a master plan to reposition the InterContinental Bali in the luxury market and supported the execution of the resort strategy within its portfolio.  Michel is a highly-motivated, people-focused leader with a solid understanding of discerning travelers and the luxury hospitality industry.  Passionate about photography and sports, Michel now brings his vast international experience and adaptability, as well as his strength in leading teams, to Japan, where the increasing numbers of foreign travellers will present new opportunities.

Michel says, “I am honoured to be appointed as General Manager of ANA InterContinental Tokyo, which has a long-standing reputation in Tokyo for its quality and high service standards. Tokyo is an exciting and vibrant city, in which the number of foreign visitors is increasing rapidly ahead of the 2019 Rugby World Cup and the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  We will strive to further improve the quality of our services and hospitality with the team to provide all of our guests with “True Hospitality.”

Michel Chertouh is now regionally responsible for IHG properties in Tokyo and Okinawa. He will be overseeing all aspects of these high-turnover hotels within the region, assuming responsibility for results from the execution of strategies developed to support and strengthen the hotel operations of each property. He will also be overseeing the General Managers within the area with the aim to meet and exceed strategic goals for the region.

Michel graduated from the “Ecole Hoteliere de Paris” and holds Bachelor of Arts in Business from the United Kingdom.
