HONG KONG With the September 6 launch of Andaz Studio, a showroom on Keyakizaka Street in the Roppongi Hills complex, Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills welcomes prospective brides and grooms to review the unique wedding celebration services and facilities that will be offered by the first Andaz hotel in Japan.

In addition, Tokyoites and visitors alike may stop by to find out more about the relaxed, personable style the new hotel will bring to the city when it opens in Minato Ward in summer 2014.

The twelfth Andaz in the world, Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills is the fourth Hyatt brand to open in Tokyo and the ninth Hyatt hotel to be established in Japan. True to the Andaz service concepts of “inspiring,” “indigenous,” and “unscripted,” it will combine seamless Hyatt hospitality with the intimate and locally engaged feel of an independent hotel.

UntitledUpon the opening of the satellite Andaz Studio, General Manager Arnaud de Saint-Exupéry said, “I am truly honoured to be standing behind Andaz as we prepare to bring the brand to Tokyo in summer 2014. We believe that the Andaz DNA aligns perfectly with the rich cultural character of this multi-faceted city. In particular, Toranomon is an exciting area that has a fascinating past and a dynamic future. We want each person to step into the hotel and feel that they are being welcomed into a Tokyo home. We look forward to opening our doors next summer and giving those guests who arrive as a visitor the opportunity to depart as a local.”   Named after a Hindustani word meaning “personal style,” Andaz has, since the debut of its first property in London in 2007, won a strong following among creative professionals and individuals who seek stimulating, authentic experiences straight from the source.

A native of France, de Saint-Exupéry assumed his new role as General Manager of Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills in August. He brings to the position more than 12 years of executive experience with Hyatt International, most recently as General Manager of Andaz Liverpool Street, the first Andaz property in the world. Prior to that, as Director of Sales and Marketing for France, de Saint-Exupéry played an instrumental role in the launch of Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome in 2002, the first luxury hotel to open in that city in five decades.

Occupying the top six floors of the 52-storey Toranomon Hills tower, which is currently under construction, Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills will offer 164 guest rooms. Three Andaz Studio event spaces, located on the tower’s two top floors, will serve as dynamic gathering places with customised menus and friendly chefs with whom guests can interact freely as though they were in their own private dining room. The open-air bar and Rooftop Studio complete with a show kitchen on the topmost floor is a first for a Tokyo luxury hotel, bringing alfresco dining and entertainment to new heights in the city. Also located here will be the city’s highest stand-alone chapel, enabling couples to seal their vows surrounded by well-wishers amid unprecedented views. The two interior designers—Tony Chi of the New York-based Tony Chi & Associates, and Shinichiro Ogata of Simplicity Co., Ltd. in Tokyo’s Meguro Ward—have drawn on Japan’s diverse aesthetic arts to create spaces that reflect the Japanese penchant for authenticity of material and texture.

The brand-wide Andaz Salon programme of on-property social events featuring local artists, musicians, and other emerging talents and leading lights unites Andaz guests with other creative minds, sparking connections and igniting ideas. Past events include fashion shows by local designers, art and wine celebrations with local wineries, honey-infused cocktail tastings with a local beekeeper, and tattoo demonstrations by a local artist. The distinctive spaces at Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills will be used flexibly to stage enticing events unique to Japan, Tokyo, and Toranomon. Over the months leading to the hotel’s grand opening, a variety of events planned in the same stimulating spirit will take place at the Roppongi site.
