Andy Murray On Top Down Under

Andy Murray today scaled new heights to unveil Under Armour’s Threadborne™ technology atop Chadstone Shopping Centre, the home of Under Armour’s first Brand House in Melbourne. The new Threadborne performance innovation houses technologies engineered down to the thread level to provide the most advanced athletic solutions, and will be showcased by Murray as he takes to the court for the 2017 Australian Open of Tennis.

Murray spoke at an exclusive press conference held at the new Under Armour Brand House to discuss how Threadborne™ has aided his training in the lead up to the most important game of his career. Following the conference, the World Number One climbed atop the iconic roof of Chadstone Shopping Centre, to look out over the Melbourne cityscape.

“It’s great being back in Melbourne at one of my favourite tournaments, and what a way to see the city, from the top of Chadstone”, Murray said, his sights now set on conquering the Australian Open. “I was playing some of my best tennis last year, and after a good winter training camp, my preparation has been great for the Australian Open. Hopefully I can go one better and win the tournament this year.”

Murray was also at Chadstone Shopping Centre to unveil Under Armour’s new Brand House, the brand’s first owned retail presence in Melbourne. With plans for further expansion on the horizon, Fernando Reani, Managing Director at Under Armour Australia and New Zealand commented on the exciting times ahead for Under Armour locally.

“Under Armour is an emerging brand in Australia, but what we have achieved in such a small period of time is formidable,” Reani said. “Last year we opened our first Brand House at Pacific Fair, Gold Coast and launched The opening of Australia’s second Brand House in Melbourne will bring us another step closer to securing Under Armour’s position as a leading performance brand in Australia – making all athletes better through our latest technologies and innovations. The launch of Threadborne™ performance apparel is a testament to our steadfast passion for innovation.”

The development of Threadborne™ enables Under Armour to take athletes to a place they have never been before, and continues to place Under Armour at the core of innovation. The performance apparel consists of four core design pillars: Microthread (stretch without excess), Seamless (move without restraint), Siro (performance without excess) and Para (containment without limitation).

“When I play, I need to be able to move without any resistance,” Murray said. “Under Armour’s Threadborne™ is designed to move with the motion of my body which will help when I am training and on the court.”
