Angelini at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong welcomes Emanuele Scarello, restaurateur and chef at Agli Amici, the only Michelin two-starred restaurant in Udine, a northern region in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, to delight Hong Kong gastronomes with his specially designed lunch and dinner menus between 16 and 19 September 2015.
Under the great leadership of Chef Emanuele, Agli Amici has been awarded the coveted two-star rating in the Michelin Guide since 2000 and is rated 18 over 20 in an Italian restaurant guide by L’Espresso, one of Italian’s best-selling news magazines.
One of the most appreciated chefs in Italy, Chef Emanuele was the Italian president of the Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe from 2009 to 2012, a prestigious association of young talented restaurateurs who passionately show high-quality culinary craftsmanship for European gastronomy while conserving local traditions and produce. In 2013, Chef Emanuele was voted the best chef in the country by Corriere della Sera, a foremost Italian newspaper.
Chef Emanuele’s success can be traced back to his childhood, when he developed the passion and skills for cooking from his mother, who is also his inspiration and mentor. Influenced by the surroundings of his hometown, he pays homage to nature through his creations and insists on using the freshest and most delicate ingredients from the region.
He is also dedicated to conserving solid roots in local culinary traditions while incorporating innovative techniques and elements to create authentic, yet creative dishes. Chef Emanuele defines his creation as “essential, contemporary, tasty and well-balanced”.
Upon graduation from a hotel management school in Udine, Chef Emanuele worked at a number of distinguished establishments in Italy, including the Michelin two-starred restaurant, and in France and Spain. He is also a qualified sommelier.
