Carnival Australia Executive Chairman Ann Sherry and world famous nature documentary maker Sir David Attenborough had an opportunity to discuss the connection between cruising and the natural world when they met yesterday at a special lunch held at the Australian Museum in Sydney.Renowned as the father of the modern nature documentary, Sir David Attenborough was named lifetime patron of the Museum as part of celebrations surrounding its 190th anniversary.

Sir David Attenborough said that when the Museum opened 190 years ago as the country’s first museum it had the ‘extraordinary and unique responsibility’ of collecting the animals and plants of an entire continent.

Ms Sherry said: “It was a fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime experience to meet someone of Sir David Attenborough’s stature as a champion of the natural world.

“Our ships take passengers to exotic destinations in the natural world that Sir David Attenborough has spent a lifetime exploring for the benefit of his worldwide audience,” Ms Sherry said.

“We had a thoroughly enjoyable discussion about everything from the amazing red crabs of Christmas Island to the cultural and natural treasures of the Solomon Islands and how much cruise passengers now look for those experiences.”
