The freshest produce, the best food and the finest wines and beers of the Macarthur region will be showcased at the annual AnnanROMA Food and Wine Festival at Australia’s largest botanic garden – the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan – on Sunday, April 3, 2016.
As the most popular food and wine festival in the historic region, the free event will invite visitors to taste their way around the garden’s lakeside, sampling local fare such as chocolate-dipped strawberries, cupcakes, wood-fired pizza and tasty preserves.
New to the event in 2016 is ‘Eat Street’ – a main avenue of delicacies stretching along the central circuit of the garden. Accompanying the food will be an impressive line-up of stage entertainment, allowing guests to relax to smooth sounds as they enjoy the food and the views.
Spanning over 416 hectares, the Botanic Gardens are home to more than 180 species of Australian birds, including the wedge-tailed eagle, the brown falcon, the rainbow lorikeet and the tawny frogmouth. The gardens also feature over 2000 plant species, including the remnants of Cumberland Plain woodland, which are over 200 years old.
Visitors to the event are invited to bring a picnic rug and enjoy the delicious tastes of the country just 45 minutes from the centre of Sydney.
