Antigua-Bound Voyage Starts Sea Cloud Cruises’ 2014-15 Caribbean Season

Adventurer and round-the-world yachtsman Burghard Pieske will be guest lecturer aboard Sea Cloud II’s first voyage of the 2014-15 Caribbean season, sailing from Las Palmas in the Canary Islands to the luxury windjammer’s wintering ground in the Caribbean.

Pieske is a geographer, educator, author and ship’s captain who spent 10 years sailing around the world. He specialises in reliving authentic historic sea voyages.

He will accompany passengers as they follow in Columbus’s footsteps, taking the trade winds from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean isle of Antigua, named by Columbus himself.

Departing 24 November 2014, the 15-night voyage starts Sea Cloud and Sea Cloud II’s 2014-15 season in the warm waters of Central America, Cuba, and the Caribbean.

Between them, the two vessels will operate 18 voyages in the Caribbean, Central America region from November 2014 to April 2015.

Early-booking fares are available until 30 September 2014.

A Sea Cloud seven-night voyage  15-22 December from Barbados  to Curacao visiting Bequia, Union Island, snorkelling at the exquisite Tobago Cays, and the Dutch islands of Bonaire  is priced from EUR 1,795 per person.

A 10 night Sea Cloud II  round trip voyage from Bridgetown  Barbados with two sea days under sail also visits Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, St Vincent and Grenadines, Dominica, Guadeloupe and  St Lucia is priced from EUR  3,595 per person in a guaranteed double cabin.

Fares include all fine dining, from early breakfast to the exquisite four-course dinner menu and five course gala dinners served with selected wines and beers during lunch and dinner, a welcoming bottle of Champagne in each cabin on arrival, and some exotic shore excursions.

Throughout the season, the 32 cabin Sea Cloud and 47 cabin Sea Cloud II will visit many beautiful Caribbean harbours between them, including  jewels like St Lucia, Grenada, and Dominica, as well as the jet-set island of St Barthélemy where manmade jewels steal the show. Former pirate haunts in the British Virgin Islands,  the French savoir-faire of the Iles des Saintes, and the Dutch colonial heritage of the ‘ABC’ islands – Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao – are also on the itineraries.

Sea Cloud will transit the Panama Canal and visit Panama’s lush PearlIslands playground, call at ancient Mayan sites in Mexico, explore the dazzling Belize Barrier Reef and Costa Rica’s world-famous national parks and visit spirited Cuba.
