AoT highlights announced the Airport Expansion

egtmedia59The Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) highlighted major works now underway to upgrade its key airports to support the burgeoning tourism market in Thailand.

All of the six airports under AoT’s supervision including Suvarnabhumi Airport are geared towards meeting growing air traffic demand in a safe and efficient manner. Under the Airport expansion plan, Development Project involving the Suvarnabhumi’s expansion are in progress and due for completion in April next year and will be followed by construction slated for commencement in August 2014 and completion in December 2016. AoT is moving ahead to reactivate Don Mueang’s Terminal 2 and upgrading other airport facilities that when it is up and running later next year will raise the airport’s combined passenger handling capacity to 30 million a year, from the current limit of 18.5 million. Expansion of Phuket Airport is advancing towards the Untitledfull completion scheduled in 2015. When completed, the airport will be able to process 12.5 million passengers a year, nearly double the existing annual capacity of 6.5 million passengers, and addressing heavy air traffic through one of the world’s most popular resort destinations.

AoT has prepared the Airports Expansion Project to improve traffic and to support passenger capacity for the more effective.

Within the event has organized the MICE business exhibition. This event is the intermediary of the all partner countries to promote their own business and to negotiate mutual business between buyers and sellers during the past three days as MICE business, Hotels and accommodation, Airline business and much more. Feedback from this event was that it had very good results for the business. This event has responded MICE business more. The obvious purpose of this event has promoted the widespread publicity.

This year, event organizers expect 2,567 participants from key target group, including Thai and overseas MICE and travel operators, buyers and sellers, as well as media representatives from 57 countries around the world. The event is expected to generate earning of over Bath 2 billion (US$ 66.67 million). Thailand has also been selected to host the event for the next four years until 2017.
