Applause Tickets Still Travel Agents’ and Hotel Concierges’ Top Choice, Helping to Deliver Personalized Service and Tickets to Premier Events Worldwide

Applause Tickets ( got its start 29 years ago, when Rich Gladstone and Bill Stolting decided to start their own Broadway ticket broker business. The first year saw the founders rake in nearly $1.7 million in sales, largely to hotels, but also a healthy portion of Broadway theater tickets.


The company started small, but Rich and Bill had a firm business plan. Before long, Applause Tickets had a large following of hotel concierge throughout NYC. In the first few years, sales grew to $15 million and the company hired 29 people to meet the demand. Despite the success, the founding partners didn’t let the success go to their heads – they kept marketing their “special brand of service” and exceeding all expectations. Soon, Applause Tickets began working with travel agents from around the world, becoming a supplier in the various global ticket distribution systems. “Before long,” says Rich, “we were entrenched in the entire hospitality industry in a big way.”

The rise of Internet “copycat” websites, the events of 9/11 and the 2008 recession all posed challenges for Applause tickets, yet the company has prevailed and prospered. “We have never wavered in our mission to offer the finest and most personal service in the ticket industry,” remarks Rich. “Everyone thinks they have exceptional service, but we do something truly special for the hospitality industry. We don’t just sell tickets, we also offer advice on the best value and seating options in every theater, suggestions on where to sit in the theater, orchestrating several shows within a client’s stay in New York City, mailing or hand delivering tickets in a timely manner and in general letting people know that we truly care about their experience at the show or event they are going to see.”


Over the years, Applause Tickets expanded to offer its brand of personalized theater ticket service to include the London Theater, where many of New York’s Broadway shows debut. More recently, travel industry clients have inquired about concert, sport and event tickets in Paris, Rome and other European hotspots, alongside domestic draws like the Super Bowl and U.S. Open tennis. Applause Tickets can say “yes” to virtually any such request. Travel agents and NYC hotel concierge have come to rely on Applause for many “hard to get” tickets for sold-out rock concerts and sporting events as well.

As part of giving back to those who have been so important to its growth and success, Applause has become a corporate member of the New York City Hotel Concierge Association. The company proudly supports the association’s charitable fund, which helps local community efforts to assist those in need of financial assistance or medical needs.
