Travel agents can now book APT’s Myanmar 2017/18 river cruise departures, with the luxury travel operator launching a new brochure to the trade.
The new brochure showcases a choice of four itineraries departing between September 2017 and April 2018.
Two itineraries focus purely on Myanmar and two offer combinations with other countries. For the first time APT is offering a combination itinerary featuring Myanmar and India. Agents can also offer Myanmar and the Mekong to clients who want to explore more of Asia in one journey.
APT’s new custom built ship, the RV Samatha, set sail on Myanmar’s Irrawaddy River for the first time in January 2016.
Offering accommodation for just 60 guests, the new vessel offers all the facilities synonymous with an APT luxury rivership, including a sundeck with spa pool; day spa; complimentary Wi-Fi; and a main lounge and bar.
APT’s Asia Ambassador Luke Nguyen has played a role in shaping the onboard culinary program. Guests who set sail aboard the RV Samathaon the Irrawaddy with APT will have the chance to sample Luke’s special private dining experience in the ship’s eight seat private dining room twice during their cruise.
Most popular itinerary is the 18-day Hidden Wonders of Burma with Inle Lake. Priced from $10,845* per person, twin share, guests sail between Mandalay and Yangon. Cruise highlights include two APT Signature Experiences; a champagne sunset cruise alongside the U Bein Bridge; and spending a day of discovery at the Bagan Archaeological Zone where guests enjoy a spectacular sunset from a viewing tower overlooking the temples with a glass of wine. Other sightseeing includes stopping along the way to experience the Mahamuni Buddha Temple; touring Inwa by horse drawn cart; enjoying a pottery making demonstration in Yandabo; and visiting the 99-metre high Shwedagon Pagoda.
After the cruise, guests fly to Heho for a three night stay at Inle Lake where they will explore the southern section of the lake by boat, taking in its stunning gardens, witnessing the ingenious one-legged rowing technique used by local fishermen and visiting the famous Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery (also known at the ‘Jumping Cat Monastery’.
APT also takes guests to see local craft industries such as silk and lotus weaving factory, silver smith workshop and Shan paper workshop, demonstrating how villagers make a living using techniques passed down by their ancestors.
Alternatively guests can choose the cruise-only by booking APT’s 15-Day Hidden Wonders of Myanmar, priced from $7,845* per person, twin share.
APT’s cruises sail between Yangon and Mandalay, removing the five hour coach journey currently being offered by other operators to the region.
The all inclusive lifestyle available to guests travelling on APT’s Myanmar holidays in 2017/18 features most meals (including all meals and beverages throughout every cruise), all flights within Asia, five star luxurious accommodation, an APT cruise or tour director, all sightseeing, transfers, airport taxes, port charges and tipping.
According to APT’s Executive General Manager Sales and Marketing Debra Fox, demand for Myanmar continues to remain high, “Myanmar is still relatively untouched and as one of the world’s least explored destinations, guests are keen to experience this special country for themselves.
“We are proud of our incredible new river ship, and also of our relationship with Luke Nguyen which enables us to offer an exclusive onboard dining experience. We hope agents will continue to enjoy selling our cruises and we’re looking forward to another successful year for our Myanmar river cruise program,” she said.
