Award winning travel operator APT has announced the launch of two new brochures showcasing its small ship product for 2018 – one featuring expedition cruising and one for guests who want to set sail on luxury mega yacht cruises.

The new Small Ships Expedition Cruising 2018 brochure offers a choice of two styles of this immersive cruise format. APT’s ‘Soft Expedition’ cruising offers guests the opportunity to choose their level of exploration through Freedom of Choice™ options.  These could include snorkeling, hikes, bike riding, market tours, kayaking, and with a less active options, such as guided city tours, available as alternatives. Up to a five-strong expedition crew accompanies these cruises and while Zodiacs still feature, the ships are mainly docked in port allowing direct access to shore excursions. These cruises operate in Northern and Western Europe and Japan.

For the more adventurous, APT offers it’s popular ‘Expedition Cruises’. Accompanied by a 10-member expedition team, guests travel off the beaten track to explore more rugged and remote destinations such as Iceland, South East Asia and the Kimberley.

A new itinerary features on the program for 2018. The 10-day Iceland: A Land of Fire and Ice expedition cruise commences in Reykjavik and circumnavigates Iceland. Special guest lecturer, Viking history expert John Haywood, joins the APT program as a special host for 2018 and accompanies this cruise, sharing his detailed knowledge and insight into the region.

APT has arranged for its guests aboard this cruise to have private access to the Myvatn Nature Baths as a Signature Experience. Other highlights include sailing through fjords, visiting Europe’s biggest glacier and witnessing incredible waterfalls and nature up close in some of Iceland’s most remote regions.

Agents can offer a choice of 21 itineraries from the new brochure, all of which feature APT’s own fleet of three ‘Sky’ships, the MS Caledonian Sky, the MS Island Sky and the MS Hebridean Sky and include all tailored shore excursions with APT’s Expedition Team and local guides.

The APT fleet is unique in that it carries a maximum of just 118 guests, all of who stay in elegant suites with outside views; and due to the size of the ship, they can dock in ports inaccessible to larger vessels. Onboard features include a library, sun deck, alfresco dining restaurant, beauty salon and ten Zodiacs that enable all guests to travel off the ship to shore together.

APT’s Small Ship cruises are fully all inclusive, offering complimentary beverages available all day while on board as well as meals, sightseeing and free Wi-Fi in cabins within one price.

APT is offering a choice of SuperDeals including ‘Companion Fly Free’ and ‘Fly Free’. Terms and conditions apply.

The new Luxury Mega-Yachts Cruising 2018 brochure offers a choice of six fully inclusive itineraries sailing aboard privately chartered vessels Le Lyrial and L’Austral to some of the world’s most beautiful locations.

Regions covered by this program include Western Europe and Antarctica, both of which also offer land touring choices, and the Kimberley.

The yachts themselves are designed in true French chic style.  With a maximum of 244 guests they feature extensive public areas including three lounge and bar areas, a range of outdoor decks, a pool, two restaurants, a theatre, boutique, fitness center, and a spa. Suites are luxuriously appointed and most feature a balcony. Top level suites include butler service.

Le Lyrial will operate cruises in Western Europe, and Antarctica and L’Austral in the Kimberley. Shore excursions are included and have been handpicked. All are hosted by local guides or an Expedition Team.

As well as all sightseeing, APT’s Luxury Mega-Yacht cruises include meals and drinks onboard, porterage, tipping and transfers.

For guests sailing to Antarctica and the Kimberley, the ships operate in Expedition mode, offering the chance to travel with an expedition team and travel aboard Zodiacs to explore the coastal environment and learn more about the flora, fauna and geology in closer detail.

APT is offering a choice of early booking SuperDeals including the chance to secure free return flights when you book an Antarctic cruise and Companion Fly Free offers on Western Europe departures. Terms and conditions apply and these offers are subject to availability.

Commenting on the new brochures, Debra Fox, APT Executive General Manager, Global Sales and Marketing, said: “Demand for our small ship ocean cruise format remains high, so we’re launching our 2018 brochures much earlier to help agents capture bookings as soon as possible. By using our own expedition ships and privately chartering luxury mega yachts we are able to offer a ship style to suit most preferences.

“For adventure seekers our two different Small Ship expedition styles offer the chance to explore off the beaten track. On the other hand we have guests who want high-end luxury on their own privately chartered yacht and so our Luxury Mega Yacht cruises are designed to deliver the very finest experience on- and off the ship. We’re expecting both styles to be a big hit with cruise travellers in 2018,” she explained.
