APT releases its new exhilarating African Safaris for 2018

Luxury travel operator APT has revealed its latest collection of African safaris for 2018, offering a portfolio of experiences that includes game spotting on the Chobe River, private air journeys, exclusive game lodges and tented camps, and iconic rail travel.

The new Africa Safaris 2018 brochure is available now and features 13 hand crafted journeys. Destinations include South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Egypt, Morocco, Uganda, and Mozambique.

A new addition to the portfolio is the opportunity to board an extended Rovos Rail journey from Cape Town to Victoria Falls, as part of the 14-day Rovos Rail through Africa and Chobe River. On this classic land journey, days are spent absorbing the ever-changing scenery of South Africa and Zimbabwe in a luxurious setting. Evenings are spent dining in the elegant restaurant and sharing cocktails in the bar with new friends.

During the rail journey, guests are offered a game viewing experience in Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park. The journey concludes with a two-night stay at the Chobe Water Villas in Botswana, which offers stilted luxury accommodation with views across the Chobe River.

APT’s most popular journey, the 15-day African Journey, is priced from $11,295* per person twin share. It comprises a 12-night classic land journey and a two night Chobe River cruise. Highlights of this trip include APT Signature Experiences such as the opportunity to dine under the stars in the Kruger National Park at a traditional Boma dinner; the chance to see hippos, elephants, buffalo, lions and leopards congregating along the river banks as guests cruise on by; a rail journey on the Royal Livingstone Express where they will enjoy dinner, drinks and views of the spectacular Victoria Falls; and a visit to an estate along the Garden Route for a unique wine tasting experience.

APT offers guests the chance to stay at some of Africa’s finest private game reserves and tented camps. In 2018, featured properties include Ngala Safari Lodge in South Africa’s Kruger National Park; the Four Seasons Safari Lodge in the Serengeti; and tented camps such as Karen Blixen Camp in the Masai Mara; Arusha Coffee Lodge at the foothills of Mount Meru; and Namibia’s Onguma The Fort near Etosha National Park.

Commenting on the new program, APT Chief Executive Officer Steve Reynolds said the 2018 program showcased the many ways in which APT guests can select and tailor itineraries to suit their individual tastes and style.

“For those who prefer traditional modes of travel the APT way, we have Classic Journeys through South Africa, Botswana and Zambia; Remote Journeys to East Africa and Namibia for guests that desire to see the wilder side of Africa; Luxury River Cruising along Egypt’s Nile River for those who prefer a relaxed pace; and a Small Group Discovery of Morocco for those that enjoy the personalised attention of being in a group of no more than 20 guests.”

Extensions for 2018 include two Rovos Rail journeys; a Mountain Gorilla Encounter in Uganda, the chance to have breakfast with the giraffes at Nairobi’s Giraffe Manor, a three-night stay on the banks of the Lower Zambezi; a beach break in Zanzibar; and an island escape in Mozambique.

APT’s group sizes are limited to 28 guests in Africa. A long list of guaranteed inclusions feature across all journeys, including all flights within Africa, a local Tour Director, sightseeing, accommodation, most meals, tipping, airport transfers, game park fees and porterage.
