Award winning luxury travel operator APT is offering a new cruise format for Antarctica in 2017.

Available in travel agents from today, APT’s new Antarctica Luxury Expedition Cruising 2017 brochure showcases the opportunity to explore the Antarctic Peninsula aboard Le Boréal, which the company has privately chartered for its 10 night luxury expedition cruises to the region.unnamed (8)

Le Boréal is fully equipped for exploring glacial waters and features innovative eco-friendly technology. With capacity for 200 guests and 139 friendly staff and crew, including a team of expert naturalist guides, guests can enjoy high levels of personalised service aboard the ship.

Onboard facilities include a range of dining options including elegant fine dining at the Gastronomic Restaurant and more casual cuisine at the Grill Restaurant. The ship also features two lounges, a library, gym, theatre, hairdresser, spa, fitness room, medical centre and an elevator. Many luxury staterooms feature private balconies and all offer individually controlled heating and 24 hour room service, amongst many other features.

According to APT’s Executive General Manager, Global Sales and Marketing, Debra Fox, the combination of the small ship format, high end luxury and expedition cruise style is perfectly suited to this destination:

“Guests book Antarctica because it offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience. They want to have adventures, see polar wildlife and to learn about this frozen wilderness from a team of experts. But they also want comfort and luxury. We’ve offered small ship cruising to this destination for a few years now but we’ve switched up the experience because we know that luxury in Antarctica is important to our guests.”

The ten day cruise aboard Le Boréal features on 12 itineraries in the new APT Antarctica Luxury Expedition Cruising 2017brochure.

Most popular is the all-inclusive luxury 13 Day Classic Antarctica. Priced from $12,795 per person twin share, the journey commences with a night at the Alvear Palace Hotel in Buenos Aires, before guests fly to Ushuaia to board Le Boréal.

Cruising towards the Antarctic Peninsula in style, guests have the opportunity to use all the amenities on ship, including theatre which features evening entertainment and informal lectures from some of the expert naturalist guides and explorers who accompany the cruise.

The ship then cruises around the Antarctic Peninsula, offering a flexible itinerary to ensure guests maximise their discovery. Activities include Zodiac rides through towering glaciers and viewing Gentoo, chinstrap and Adélie penguins; Weddell crabeater, leopard and Antarctic fur seals; and keeping watch for hunting orca, breaching humpback and minke whales.

The cruise may also stop at Port Lockroy, an active scientific base studying Gentoo penguins. Alternate shore landings are arranged to ensure guests are able to access all excursions.

After sailing back across the Drake Passage to Ushuaia, guests conclude their trip with a flight back to Buenos Aires, overnighting once more at the Alvear Palace Hotel.

As is synonymous with all APT’s luxury cruises, the list of inclusions is impressive and covers domestic flights, all meals, complimentary drinks all day onboard the ship, the services of an APT Tour Director and expedition team, butler services for suites, 24 hour room service, a jacket and a beanie, rental of boots and all port charges and tipping.

This cruise can also be combined with APT’s popular luxury South America holidays.

APT is offering a range of exciting early booking offers including a ‘Companion Fly Free, including taxes’ deal on all tours of 21 days or more. This is valid when two people book a tour, including an Antarctica Cruise and flights from Australia.
