Award winning luxury travel operator APT will return to Antarctica in style in 2018.

Available for booking from today, APT’s Antarctica Luxury Expedition Cruising 2018 program features a privately chartered expedition cruise on board the luxurious Le Lyrial, the newer sister ship to the previously chartered Le Boreal.

The ten night cruise sails from Ushuaia in Argentina, across the Drake Passage and to the islands at the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. Once in Antarctic waters, the ship’s captain will charter a flexible course to maximise sight-seeing opportunities. The journey also takes in the deserted whaling station at Deception Island and, weather permitting, a visit to an active scientific research station.

An expert expedition team, including naturalist guides and marine biologists, will lead daily zodiac excursions of no more than ten people per vessel, allowing travellers to see glacial landscapes, penguin rookeries, seal colonies and icefields up close.

With its small ship agility and ocean-liner grade luxury appointments, Le Lyrial is the perfect vessel for APT’s Antarctica program, which operates in February, when the weather is at its best and the wildlife active.

A high crew to guest ratio – 139 crew for 200 passengers – means guests can expect a high level of personalised service both on board the ship and on zodiac excursions. There are two dining options: the elegant Gastronomic Restaurant and the more casual Grill Restaurant and the ship also features stylish lounge areas, a library, cinema and a lecture room where guests can learn about Antarctica’s history and environment in depth.

The ship’s spacious staterooms and suites have balconies from which guests can enjoy the views that 20-hours of sunlight a day afford.  There’s a gym, day spa, and beauty salon on board, and a cleverly designed Marina Platform which makes transfers into Le Lyrial’s zodiacs easy.

APT Executive General Manager, Global Sales and Marketing Debra Fox said the company’s deep Antarctica expertise, it’s choice of ship and the ease at which the tour could be combined with other South America itineraries made APT’s program stand out.

“Antarctica is often considered a once-in-a-lifetime destination. Guests want to travel in comfort and luxury, but they also want to be able to get up close to nature and learn everything they can about this fascinating environment.

“Travellers who choose APT can be confident that our team of on board naturalists and expert expedition leaders will provide them with deep insights into the region. The things they see and learn each day can then be discussed over an amazing dinner each night.”

The Antarctica program is offered as part of six different APT South American itineraries departing in January and February 2018.  Most popular, the 13 day Classic Antarctica includes two nights in Buenos Aires and is priced from $11,995 * per person twin share.

An air credit of up to $500 per couple is available on combined Antarctica and South America itineraries of up to 22 days. This offer is strictly limited and terms and conditions apply.

Travellers looking for a more in depth tour could opt for the 23 day A South American Discovery, which includes four nights in Buenos Aires and eight in Peru, or the 35 day Best of South America with Galapagos Islands which includes a three night stay at Finch Bay Eco Lodge in the Galapagos.

The impressive list of inclusions for the Antarctica program extends to domestic flights, meals and complimentary drinks on board the ship, the services of an APT Tour Director, 24 hour room service, an Antarctica-grade jacket and beanie to keep, the rental of boots and all port charges and tipping.

APT have a range of excellent early booking offers available, including a “companion fly free, including taxes” offer on combined Antarctica and South America tours of 23 days or more.

Alternatively, travellers can fly business class for $5,495 per person return on combined Antarctica and South America tours of 23 days or more.

Early booking offers are strictly limited and available until sold out. Offers are subject to availability and terms and conditions apply.
