Are these Australia’s Luckiest Interns?

unnamed (10)WHILE many university students will spend their holiday internships behind a desk, answering phones and doing coffee runs, photography student Angeliqa Jonsson’s internship with Experience Oz this month will see her travelling to Australia’s most iconic locations, bungy jumping, sky diving, whale watching, hot air ballooning and white water rafting.

Angeliqa was chosen from thousands of applications for the 14 day experience, dubbed Australia’s Ultimate Internship, travelling over 3000kms on a fully paid, once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Angeliqa says from the moment her friend Samui Reid, a fellow student at Sydney’s CATC Design School, tipped her off about the internship, she has thought of nothing else.

“When Samui showed me the information I thought ‘Yes! This is for me’,” Ms Jonsson said.unnamed (11)

“I went online and saw all the amazing experiences that Experience Oz offers and I knew I wanted it. I put a lot of work into the application and then just hoped for the best. The funny thing is, Samui never got around to putting her application in.

“When they called me to say I had been chosen I couldn’t believe it; I have never been more excited,” she says.

The internship includes 14 days of paid travel, stopping in Cairns, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Sydney and Melbourne, with all expenses valued at $20,000 including accommodation, experiences, car hire, flights and most meals. Best of all, the internship allows Angeliqa to bring three friends as fellow interns along for the ride.

“Of course I chose Samui first,” Angeliqa laughs. “I wouldn’t have even known about it if not for her, so I couldn’t go unnamed (12)without her. She would never speak to me again.”

Also travelling will be photography students Angi Kim and Emilia Freijd.

The four friends will be showcasing their experiences through photos, blogs and video posted daily to online and social media sites Facebook and Instagram.

Experience Oz Business Development Manager Michelle Woodroff said the internship is a fantastic opportunity to not only experience the best Australia has to offer, but also give their professional resumes a huge kick start with the exposure the project will garner.

“Angeliqa, Samui, Angi and Emilia will visit six iconic cities, alongside an Experience Oz representative, unnamed (13)exploring some of Australia’s most unique attractions down the East Coast. They will be jet boating, hot air ballooning, snorkelling, exploring wildlife and visiting theme parks, and showcasing their best experiences through photos, blogs, social media and video, which will look great on their resume,” Ms Woodroff said.

“It’s a great opportunity for these girls who all have a passion for travel adventures, to build their portfolios and learn new skills in media production and social media along the way.
“They are all studying creative endeavours such as photography and photojournalism so the updates are going to be fantastic. We can’t wait to follow their trip.”

The interns will start their adventure on July 14 in Cairns. You can follow their adventure via the Experience Oz Facebook, Instagram (experience_oz) or Twitter (@Experience_Oz) or searching the hashtag #experienceoz
