Around Australia – step firmly forward with bothfeet.

EGT mediaTVI bumped into Dana Rona of bothfeet recently and I have to say it is hard to imagine anyone more passionate about the amazing walks bothfeet organises, not only in Victoria and in particular along the Great Ocean Road, with bothfeet now spreading its wings or should I say increasing its footprint to other parts of Australia.

Dana told me that bothfeet was founded in 2005 by her and husband Gavin, with since then they been operating continuously, opening their own bothfeet walking lodge in December 2008, which Dana says took their hikes to a new level of comfort and sustainability.

She said that bothfeet has earned the respect of local parks’ agencies, regional and national tourism bodies and customers from all over the world for the quality of their operation, environmental principles and consistently high standards in showcasing the stunning natural environment at their doorstep, with bothfeet having committed and dedicated staff on site at the lodge and in their office and many of their guides and lodge staff coming back season after season for their love of the region, the walkers and the bothfeet way of walking.

Dana said bothfeet rewards walkers with world class hiking, relaxing eco lodge comforts and simple pleasures such as stunningly good food and great service from passionate staff, with the bothfeet walking lodge located at Johanna, the midpoint of the Great Ocean Walk trail and the start of the Twelve Apostles Walk, about 3 hours from Melbourne.

Sustainably designed and built during 2008, the lodge opened in December 2008 and is the home base for bothfeet hikers only, with no other company staying there, so the only way to enjoy all the lodge comforts and services honed for hikers is to walk with bothfeet.

They even look after what you eat, with Dana telling me that what you eat can be as important as where you walk each day, with after all, when all the details are taken care of and you bring life back to basics, what’s for lunch and dinner becomes a very serious thought train … so taken very seriously, with an attentive live-in chef that has developed menus that complement the trail experience, showcasing local and regional ingredients accompanied by regional wines and microbrew beers.
