EGT mediaTVThe organiser of the inaugural South Pacific Tourism Exchange 2014, the South Pacific Tourism Organisation said Thursday that with 50 sellers from the islands in attendance together with 60 buyers from New Zealand and Australia as well as from our long haul tourist source markets in Europe, the UK, and North America, the response has been great.

Addressing the event media conference SPTO CEO Mr Ilisoni Vuidreketi told media from all over the world that the response from sellers, buyers including wholesalers has been nothing short of over-whelming, so much so that they had turned away sellers and that for the coming years, SPTO will now work on the concept and the size of the South Pacific Tourism Exchange.

He said that SPTE is the ideal platform is for tourism operators and providers in the islands to connect directly with decision makers in their sources markets, with our purpose for the South Pacific Tourism Exchange being to provide that platform and contribute to capturing the projected growth of tourist arrivals into the Pacific.

Participants in the two-day event include the South Pacific’s National Tourism Offices, hotel and resort providers, airlines and tour operators from American Samoa, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
