The Art Investments Gallery at 7 on Quinn in Parkhurst welcomes Thobi Zulu as new gallery manager from February 1 2014.

Says Thobi: “I’m delighted to be joining this inspirational mentoring gallery for great young artists and I look forward to introducing the many aspects of this gallery to be made available to local art lovers, such as utilising the gallery for private cocktail events, jazz evenings, wine and whiskey tasting – and even yoga classes.

“I am humbled to be working with these great young artists and their mentors and I believe the gallery an ideal venue for locals and visitors to gather and share their appreciation for the fine, yet affordable, things in life, especially art.”

Thobi emphasises her joy in the Art Investments Gallery being supported by the directors of Advanced Capital, who realised the need for great South African artists to be mentored and promoted to enable them to live sustainable lives through their unique craft, thereby avoiding the tragic van Gogh syndrome of becoming famous when it was too late.

Her diverse background as an executive assistant, advertising executive, event and hospitality manager and an avid supporter of the arts and jazz provides her with the right tools to attract new visitors and genres to the gallery.

The gallery will continue to exhibit great paintings, whilst evocative photographs, prints of the art exhibited at the gallery as well as framing options will be on offer.

Advanced Capital invites other corporate and private companies to join them in supporting superior artists in this initiative by collecting art from the gallery for their offices, boardrooms and homes – while it is still affordable!Commissioned art is also available to further enhance the services on offer at the Art Investments Gallery.

Since opening its doors in December 2012, the Art Investments Gallery has hosted several private cocktail exhibitions for clients, whilst private and corporate buyers are most appreciative of the compelling art being available at affordable prices. Private and corporate individuals are welcome to utilise the gallery for their own events by arrangement, where art could be sold or auctioned to support the artists featured at the gallery.

Artists that are enjoying success at the Art Investments Gallery at 7 on Quinn in Parkhurst include Patrick Rapai, Ausiki Podi and Isaac Mekgwe.

Ausiki’s paintings are inspired by life: art is life to her, a part of her being, her calling, she says. She has a diploma in art and design. Her paintings comprise a blend of bead work and oils, whilst she loves to play with colour as she believes she is a colourful personality.

Isaac is a self-taught artist, who started drawing in pencil from a very early age. His love and passion for art has evolved over the years, whereby he recently started using acrylic on canvas with palette knife and brush, thereby creating a rugged surface, yet with a smooth aesthetic appeal. Blending colours is his strength in creating contemporary art of mostly rural African scenes.  He holds a degree in agriculture and after a successful stint in dairy and poultry farming, he was convinced by established Art Investments artist Patrick Rapai to turn professional and join the professional team at the gallery.

Patrick, now a highly celebrated artist and mentor of new artists at the Art Investments Gallery, performs his alchemy on canvass through his inspiration drawn from the textures of nature, such as tree bark, the soil, road surfaces, grass and anything related to nature and basic construction. Describing his technique as ‘dimensional,’ he is drawn to our African landscape, rural dwellings, complete with its rustic, rich colours.
