Majority of airports in the region reported positive passenger growth for the month with strong support from international travels. A number of Asia-Pacific airports recorded year on year gains in excess of 25%: Bangalore (BLR) +33%, Phuket (HKT) +28.6%, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) +27.1%, Osaka Kansai (KIX) +25.1%, Hyderabad (HYD) +25.1%. The Middle Eastern hub airports all recorded significant gains: Dubai (DXB) +29.5%, Doha (DOH) +24.9%, Abu Dhabi (AUH) 23.3%. Overall, Bangkok Don Muang (DMK) generated the highest increase among major airports at +52.4%.
Air freight continued to be impacted by slowdown across Asian export markets and oil producing economies. In July 2015, freight volumes were flat in Asia-Pacific 0% and the Middle East recorded a decrease of -0.9%. Manila (MNL) delivered the highest growth rate among both region at +15% driven by strong domestic freight volumes.
