Amazing photos surface of Asiana air crash aftermath

July 19, 2013 Aviation, Headline News 1 Comment Email Email

egtmedia59If ever there was a case of pictures being worth a thousand words, recently released photos of the Asiana Flight 214 air crash aftermath in San Francisco could be it.

An amazing series of photos show warped and fire-blackened seats in the wrecked cabin of the aircraft, flattened and twisted seating in the area unaffected by fire, the undercarriage that sheared off on impact, the wrecked fuselage, engine turbine blades sliced clean off, and workers with heavy equipment probing the plane.

The photos surfaced after the US The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) closed its San Francisco command post, ending the on-scene investigation into the crash-landing.

The NTSB said in a statement that its investigative team has finished examining the wreckage and runway at San Francisco International Airport.

The wreckage will be held at a secure storage location at the airport so it’s still available to sift through if necessary.
