egtmedia59In conjunction with the Myanmar Hospitality & Tourism Conference 2014 at the Traders Hotel in Yangon on February 18-19,  a preview to the upcoming ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2015 in Myanmar was given.
On January 22-29, 2015, ATF will be held in Nay Pyi Taw, actually the first time in Myanmar since its inauguration in 1981. Under the theme “ASEAN – Tourism Towards Peace, Prosperity and Partnership” ATF 2015 is expected to attract 1,500 participants from FIS-250x250more than 25 countries, including tourism ministers and officials, ASEAN exhibitors and sellers, international buyers, international and local media, as well as tourism trade visitors.

Myanmar is a paradise for discerning travellers to explore and experience the mystical charms of the East in all its diversity, especially rich archaeological sites, glittering pagodas, a wealth of cultures, colourful festivals, arts and handicrafts.

Since political reforms began in 2011, Myanmar has generated a lot of economic interest. Investors have been seeing its pivotal strategic location between India and China, vast natural resources and a long-isolated population of over 60 million people. Tourist arrivals in Myanmar increased from 800,000 visitors in 2010 to over two million in 2013, representing an immense growth. By 2020, seven million visitors will likely enter the country.

H. E. U Htay Aung, Union Minister  of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, concluded: “The increase in tourism arrivals is a good sign for the tourism industry in Myanmar. Hosting ATF in 2015 is a special milestone as it provides the opportunity for the local tourism players to showcase their products and services to the global market.”

The event will be hosted by the Ministry of Hotels & Tourism, organised by the Myanmar Tourism Federation and managed by MP International from Singapore as well as Myanmar Venture Group. Also, it will be supported by ASEANTA, the well-known ASEAN Tourism Association.

TRAVEX, as unique platform for suppliers of ASEAN tourism products and services, will be held on January 27-29, 2015.
