April 9, 2014 Aviation No Comments Email Email

SWISS will be making selected and seasonal modifications to its European and intercontinental schedules for the 2014 summer timetable period.

Palermo and Thessaloniki will be added to the Zurich-based network, while Geneva will see new services to Corfu and Heraklion. Service from Basel will also be expanded with the addition of new seasonal flights to the popular holiday destinations of Ibiza, Olbia and Palma de Mallorca.

More summer destinations from Zurich

SWISS will be making selected modifications to its Zurich-based European network, including new services to Palermo and Thessaloniki, in response to seasonal demand. The new Zurich-Palermo flights, which will be offered from the beginning of July to the end of August, mark the first time in its history that SWISS has served the route. The new twice-weekly service will be operated using Airbus A320 equipment. Sicily’s capital is SWISS’s second destination on the island, joining Catania for the peak July-and-August holiday season. Thessaloniki will be served from Zurich over the same July and August period, and also twice a week.

In addition, SWISS will be adding further frequencies to its existing service between Zurich and the popular vacation destination of Palma de Mallorca, raising this to up to 13 flights a week. Services to Barcelona, Athens, Lisbon, Porto and Dublin will also be increased. And the Zurich-Kiev route, which was inaugurated in the 2013/14 winter schedules, will see five weekly frequencies in the summer months.

SWISS will be expanding its services on its intercontinental network, too, including raising frequencies to Chicago to up to 12 a week. Nairobi will also receive a new daily Airbus A330 service between July and September.

More points from Geneva

SWISS will be further expanding its Geneva-based network from April onwards with the introduction of three new destinations that will be served all year. Rome and Lisbon each receive four weekly services, while Copenhagen will be served with six weekly flights. The year-round network will be further supplemented this summer by attractive seasonal services that include a weekly flight to Corfu and two weekly frequencies to Heraklion. Ajaccio, Olbia and Catania, which were newly added to the Geneva-based network in summer 2013, are included again in this year’s summer schedules. As a result, SWISS will serve 29 destinations from Geneva in the summer timetable period.

New vacation destinations from Basel

From EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg SWISS will be offering new seasonal services to the popular holiday destinations of Ibiza, Olbia and Palma de Mallorca in the summer months. Palma will be served up to four times a week from the beginning of June to the end of October; Olbia will receive two weekly services from the beginning of June to mid-September; and Ibiza will be served by one weekly flight between the end of June and mid-September. The existing services between Basel and London City, Barcelona, Hamburg and Prague will all be continued.

SWISS serves 84 destinations (60 European and 24 intercontinental) in 40 countries. The new summer schedules will be in effect from 30 March to 25 October 2014. Full details are available on swiss.com.
