Aussie woman sues airline – says she was refused water

An Australian woman who claims to have become dehydrated on a long-haul flight is suing one of the world’s biggest airlines, saying it refused her a glass of water.

Melbourne’s Herald Sun reported details of the woman’s legal claim. The woman says she was flying Emirates from Melbourne to Dubai when she grew very thirsty. In a claim filed with the Supreme Court, the woman alleges she collapsed from dehydration after begging for a drink.

The woman is seeking damages, interest and costs, the paper reported.

The incident relates to an Emirates flight in March 2015, on which the plaintiff alleges she began feeling unwell and airline staff repeatedly refused to give her a drink of water.

The complainant says a flight attendant told her food and refreshments would be served in a couple of hours. The woman says she then felt unwell and made her way to the bathroom, fainted and injured her right ankle. She required surgery on two occasions and was left with permanent injury, according to the claim.

The paper said the woman had launched legal action under the Civil Aviation (Carriers’ Liability) Act.

Sounds more like she had a few too many chardy’s, fell and hurt her ankle, and now wants someone else to pay for her medical bills. I cannot picture a major carrier like EK refusing water, and at absolute worst she could have taken a quick walk to the bathroom at any time, not waiting until she was supposedly so dehydrated that she collapsed after begging for a drink. Sorry but this sounds like a load of rubbish.
