Aussies back Socceroos 350%
With only three weeks to go until football’s biggest and most celebrated international football tournament, leading global travel search site Skyscanner has found that Aussies are travelling in droves to support the Socceroos in Brazil.
This year, flight searches from Australia to Brazil have increased 351% compared to 2013, ranking 7th highest around the world in flight searches to the country during the World Cup™ event.
However, Aussies may not be so confident that the team will make it much further than the group stage. Group B includes Spain, Netherlands and Chile – tough opponents for the Aussie squad. Skyscanner sees flight searches from Australia dropping to 12th place during the second stage round of 16 and semi-finals.
Dave Boyte, Marketing Manager Australia and New Zealand said, ‘Although there’s not a great deal of confidence Australia will make it through the group stage, it’s great to see that Aussie travellers are still getting behind their team during the event’.
While anyone making a last dash to Brazil might be a little late to grab a bargain flight, Skyscanner’s Football Flight Finder is a handy tool for travellers to plan their journey around Brazil during the group stages.
