Aussies Flock To Turkey To Commemorate The ANZAC Centenary

Travellers from Brisbane to Istanbul for April 2015 saw the biggest increase with almost four times as many people looking to visit compared to the same period in 2014http://join.travelmanagers.com.au/supporting-your-business/partner-with-the-best/

  • Across Australia, Sydneysiders recorded the highest number (37%) of travellers visiting Istanbul in April this year and also saw a 73% increase when compared to the same period in 2014
  • Melburnians recorded the second-highest number of travellers (23%) to Istanbul in April 2015
  • The number of travellers from Perth looking to visit Istanbul in April 2015 more than doubled from the same period last year

Alana Saphin-Polchleb, Oceania Head of Marketing at Skyscanner commented on the trend: “Skyscanner’s data highlights the significant increase in proud Australians making the trip to Gallipoli. This gives us a real sense of comradery across the country as we remember and honour the people who served in the war.”
